Chommies for dogs*
Dogs make lives better. And there are some incredible people dedicated to making dogs’ lives better.
Our Chommies for life* programme supports them in the important work they do.
We’ve started in our own backyard by partnering with local animal welfare organisations and community projects in Cape Town and the surrounds.
The Underdog Project
A registered Non-Profit and Public Benefit Organisation, The Underdog Project works with vulnerable children and dogs in Cape Town. In their mutually-beneficial workshops, at-risk youth learn life skills through therapeutic, animal-assisted activities that simultaneously socialise and train shelter dogs for a better chance of being re-homed.
10% of the proceeds from our Mount Nelson x Chommies collaboration are donated to The Underdog Project. All donations from Chommies support the Peer Leader Programme which teaches leadership qualities and prepares their young participants for their transition into the workforce. Visit their website if you’d like to learn more or support them directly.
Sidewalk Specials
Sidewalk Specials is a dog rescue organisation in De Doorns in the Cape Winelands that helps township-based families care for their pets through free vet care, sterilisation and dog kennels.
Each sale from our Rainbow Collection provides a De Doorns dog with a much-needed clinic visit which includes sterilisation and vetting.

Adora-Bull Terrier Rescue and Rehabilitation
Adora-Bull Terrier Rescue and Rehabilitation is a non-profit organisation based in Gauteng, South Africa, which facilitates the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of Bull Terrier dogs countrywide.
Taking one of our Do Good Dogs home means supporting a good cause with all profits going towards the funding of a satellite shelter for dogs in need in the Cape.
Each Do Good Dog is handmade from yarn offcuts by the Chommies knitters. Leather leftovers from our production studio are repurposed to make each a miniature Chommies collar that show these puppies they belong. These scruffy, fuzzy Chommies mohair mutts are available to purchase and adopt from EBONY/CURATED (Franschhoek) and Chommies' retail stores. They’re a lovable, ragtag litter, each with their own quirks, colours and character—just like real rescues.
Tango K9 Anti-Poaching Unit
Tango K9 operates within Thornybush Nature Reserve, part of the Greater Kruger National Park. This dedicated anti-poaching unit of specially trained dogs protects endangered species and Africa’s wildlife, detecting illegal wildlife contraband, firearms, and ammunition.
As a result of the global Covid-19 pandemic and its impact on South Africa’s tourism industry, the funding for Tango K9's anti-poaching unit has severely diminished. To offer support CHOMMIES has collaborated with Tango K9 to create a custom, extra-long slip-on training leash that is being used by the unit and their dogs in the bush. The specific tailored design of these leashes is also apt for everyday dog owners looking to make dog training easier. As part of our Chommies for life* program, all profits from the sale of these leashes go directly to support Tango K9’s vital work.
